Children’s Hospice South West Precious Lives Appeal

 Children’s Hospice South West is the only organisation in the South West providing hospice care for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

There are over 1,000 such children in our region.

CHSW research has shown that support services here in the SW are poorly developed and they are working hard to ensure that they can extend their care and support to more families across the region.

Since 1995 CHSW has been providing expert care for life-limited children from Plymouth and Cornwall at its hospice in North Devon (Little Bridge House) and more recently in North Somerset (Charlton Farm).

The time has come to bring their special care nearer to these children.

Planning permission for the new hospice to be built in St Austell has been obtained and they will be starting the process of getting the builders appointed this spring.

When complete, on offer will be a range of special services, from 24hr palliative care to end of life care for the sick child. Also care for parents and well brothers and sisters, support in bereavement and beyond, and in the night, when the rest of the world is asleep, a listening ear at the end of the telephone.

As with the other 2 hospices, this one will be a home from home, offering respite, relaxation and a sense of community. It will be a place where each family member can find time and space to feel normal and do the things they enjoy without the worry of caring.
