When Plymouth
Soroptimists and Rotary Club of Plympton teamed up in partnership to put on a
fundraising concert for the Precious Lives Appeal for Children’s Hospice South
West, little did they realise what an Aladdin’s cave of talent they had found!
Young people from in and around Plymouth
gave their time and talent in order to raise funds for the Children's Hospice
South West's Precious Lives Appeal.
Musicians from The Lipson Big Band, The
Ridgeway Singers, South West Camerata and The Plymouth Youth Concert Band,
together with soloists Jade Pearce and Milena Rewinska performed a very varied
and exciting programme of jazz, classical, folk, and pop.
The appearance of Alison Smith,
classical guitarist with an international career, was one of the highlights of
the evening.
The guests included the Lord Mayor and
Lady Mayoress and Mr Eddie Farwell founder of the CHSW movement with his wife
Erica.
The contribution of the enthusiastic
audience ensured that £5,000 was raised for this very important cause. This sum
included raising £1298 on a raffle (click
for winners) and £780 on the Wishing Tree from 5 days in House of Fraser.
