Spokane,
in the State of Washington, is separated from us by the whole continent of
America and the Atlantic Ocean. Nevertheless, we have corresponded for over 40
years and members from each club have exchanged visits regularly.
Rotterdam,
Netherlands
One
of the most important cities in the Netherlands, Rotterdam is a river port.
SI Rotterdam was chartered the same year as the Plymouth club (1930).
Brest,
France
Located
in the North West corner of France, on the far Western coast of Brittany, Brest
is one of France’s leading naval ports. It also has a long history of
seafaring and commerce and is on the edge of a rural area, like Plymouth.
The
nearest of Plymouth’s friendship links, Brest is a 6-hour ferry journey and
one hour car drive away. After 25 years of friendship, we have made and received
several exchange visits, and are in touch regularly by letter.
New
Plymouth, New Zealand
The
most distant of our friendship links, New Plymouth is a coastal town on the West
coast of the North Island of New Zealand. It’s too far to go across 3
continents on a casual visit, so most of our linking has been done by letter.
We
were delighted to meet some New Plymouth residents here in ‘old’ Plymouth
some years ago when our city played host to representatives of the many
Plymouths around the world.
Glasgow South

We
have had a link with Glasgow South for some years and frequently meet up at
International Conferences. We look forward to taking a large
contingent of our club to Glasgow for the 2002 International Conference.
Some of their members joined us for a Friendship dinner before Conference
started.
Darlington
Darlington is
a very active club and it was lovely to meet up with them at the Cardiff
conference last year. By sheer coincidence
this year
some of our members were booked on a tour after the South Africa
conference and met up with Darlington members. It's always so difficult to
make contact at Conference with so many ladies milling about! We also met
up with Darlington again at the Glasgow conference.
